Get Rid of Acne Scars

Acne scars are the remnant scars left over after your acne has gone. It can range from mild to severe scarring and understandably people want to get rid of acne scars. Since there is a range of acne scarring, treatments for acne scars also range as well. You can buy acne scar treatment creams for mild scarring or you can go have laser surgery to remove the severe scarring.

Before you even have acne scars, and during the time you have acne, you should wash your face often. Use antibacterial soap to wash away the bacteria on your face. Most importantly, you want to avoid popping the pimples since that breaks the skin and causes acne scars. You would also spread the bacteria around even more which causes more pimples to form and more chances of acne scars to form.

To get rid of acne scars that are mild, you can try the scar smoothing creams sold at any pharmacy. These are OTC and do not require prescriptions. Not everyone has success with these though, so check online for reviews on the products before you buy. That way you won’t go wasting your money on useless products.

Another way to treat mild cases of acne scars is to use a chemical peel. The chemical peel gets rid of acne scars by removing the layer of skin with acid. This leaves a fresh layer underneath that does not have the scars. Irritation of the skin may be felt for a day or two after the chemical peel.

A more expensive treatment for getting rid of acne scars is dermabrasion. For this treatment, the top layer of the skin is sanded off using a rotating disk. Dermabrasion can be a fairly painful procedure.

Finally, the most expensive of all treatments to get rid of acne is the laser resurfacing. Like dermabrasion, the dermatologist will numb the surface of your skin. However, instead of using rotating disks to sand off the skin, a laser is used instead. Doing this should leave the skin smooth.
